Charles’ work also garnered a makeup Emmy in 1996 for TNT's Kissinger and Nixon, and in 2000, he received a Saturn award nomination (Science Fiction Academy Award) for his work on The Sixth Day starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Additionally, The CNoMA  (Canadian Network of Makeup Artists) for ‘Best Special Effects Makeup Artist for Film and Television’ was awarded to Charles in 2003 for his work on Door to Door, when he was again simultaneously nominated in the ‘Best Make-Up Artist for a Feature Film’ category for his reprise on Tim Allen in The Santa Clause 2.

Having well refined skills in all areas of makeup, Charles’ extensive list of production credits reflects that. It include numerous projects as Make-Up Department Head, as on the recent Universal musical Connie and Carla and as a Key Make-Up Effects Artist, as on X-Men II, where he helped to create the look for Alan Cumming’s Night Crawler character. His work may also be seen in other top box office hits like The Santa Clause, Thirteen Ghosts, The Sixth Day, Mission to Mars, Double Jeopardy and Jumanji to name a few.

A sought-after educator devoted to teaching both the business and the craft of screen makeup, Charles’ industry experience is much in demand. He manages a busy schedule as both an artist and repeat guest at schools and universities, where he is called upon to share his broad knowledge base. Often, his commentaries are included on the DVD releases of popular films that feature his work.

Charles has been a keynote speaker at the Annual International Make-Up Tradeshow (IMATS) in Pasadena, California and is a regular contributor for publications such as Flare and Makeup Artist Magazine. He is also currently the Head of the Makeup Design Program at Vancouver Film School in Vancouver, Canada.
